Craig Hospital—a nationally recognized leader in neurorehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries—approached Nichez to concept and design its annual report during a pivotal moment in the hospital’s 109-year history. The year marked the successful completion of a transformative campus expansion, the launch of a new brand identity, and the celebration of an unprecedented philanthropic campaign.

Nichez’s task was to capture the heart of these achievements in a single unifying narrative and visual direction. The result: “Courageous.”

“Courageous” honored the bravery of Craig’s patients, celebrated the bold vision behind the hospital’s growth, and reflected Craig’s commitment to empowering lives through rehabilitation, innovation, and community support.

The Creative Concept: “Courageous”

Nichez built the creative foundation around a simple but powerful truth:
Every milestone at Craig Hospital begins with courage—courage from patients, families, staff, donors, and the broader community.

The visual system drew on:

  • Bold typography, symbolizing resilience and inner strength
  • Dynamic, patient-centered photography, highlighting real stories of bravery and recovery
  • Clean, architectural layouts, echoing the precision and scale of the new facilities
  • A color palette inspired by Craig’s new brand identity, unveiled that same year

The resulting annual report balanced emotional storytelling with transparent financial reporting, showcasing both the human and structural impact of Craig’s historic year.
